We are Proud to Offer Two Education Curriculums When it Comes to Dog Training and Education

In order to offer the most options to fur families for dog training, we now offer two curriculums. Read more about the philosophies below.

Positive Methods Obedience

Traditional obedience classes for pups of every age. No Prong collars...only positive reinforcement.

Our obedience training philosophy is focused on science-based, positive reinforcement instruction. We offer clients several different ways to work with their dogs — all of which involve a gentle, kind and fair technique. We encourage students to use a clicker during class (you will receive one on your first night) We strive to find a humane method that works for both the dog and human. We do not do any leash “corrections” and choke chains / pinch collars are never used. It is important to us to help our clients understand how their dog learns and thinks so they can get their dogs to do what they want.

All of our group, obedience training classes are limited in size so you are guaranteed individual attention. Classes are designed to be fun AND cognitively stimulating for everyone. With small classes, we provide plenty of time for demonstration, practice and discussion. We focus on teaching humans and their canine family members how to effectively communicate with one another and the results are happy people and dogs who leave each class with new skills.

Bond-based Education

We are proud to partner with Soul Dog Canine Education to bring you a new option when it comes to teaching your pup.

Bond-Based Choice Teaching is a revolutionary, relationship-based alternative to training for dogs and their people. Think of it as Montessori for Dogs.

Research has found found that if we teach dogs in the same way that we teach young children, we are more successful and the dogs learn faster.  And when we tap into their ability to learn using Bond-Based Choice Teaching, dogs are happier, safer, more content and fit better into our world.

You'll start by building secure attachments and bonds with your pup. Once we have this bond, the dogs learn very easily and much faster. Among the skills developed in the dogs is the ability to communicate with us by answering questions, identify items by name,  and using their ability to mimic us. We also utilize choice, which gives the dogs the ability to have control over themselves, resulting in a dog that has self-awareness and confidence.

Introducing our Trainer and Owner, Scott Tripp

After years of pet ownership and training his own pups, Scott decided it was time to take it to the next level! Scott has been studying the SIRIUS dog training methodology for years and really believes in all the theories put forth by Dr. Ian Dunbar. SIRIUS champions user-friendly and dog-friendly dog training specifically, that training should be as enjoyable for dogs as it is for owners, and that training should only involve quick, easy, and effective methods that are within the capabilities of all family members, especially including children.

Introducing our Canine Life Coach, Claire Clark BBCT Accredited, ABCDT certification

Claire Clark is the owner of Soul Dog Canine Education, a former member of the board of directors of the Metro East Humane Society, and is a graduate of the Animal Behavior College Dog Trainer program. She discovered Bond-Based Choice Teaching shortly after starting her journey to become a dog educator and it validated everything that she knew in her heart about her bond with her dogs. She uses BBCT in her work with shelter dogs and pet dogs to help them all be the happiest dogs they can be. She has seen truly amazing transformations of dogs that have behavioral or anxiety issues, as well as shelter dogs that needed help adjusting to their new home environment. Claire offers Group Lessons here at Club Whisker Bones, as well as private sessions for the dogs attending daycare during their time here. www.souldogcanineeducation.com is her website and she can be reached at 618-791-7401 for any questions about her methods or lesson availability.
